Family-Friendly Hotel in Ipswich
We welcome families looking to slow down, step outside and enjoy being together in beautiful surroundings. Set within 12 acres of gardens and parkland in the Suffolk countryside, Hintlesham Hall is a traditional English country house where family holidays unfold naturally.
Days are shaped by fresh air and daylight, meals are shared without hurry, and evenings draw everyone back together again. This is a place to relax, unforced and quietly special.
Family Rooms
Stays designed for weary heads in comfortable beds, little wellies by the door and the calm that comes at the end of a full day. Our family rooms and suites are designed with family stays in mind, offering generous space to relax and unwind together, ready for another unhurried day.
With room to spread out, settle in comfortably and sleep well, they provide a peaceful retreat after days spent outdoors.
When children are staying, family board games are placed in every bedroom. It’s a simple pleasure sitting together, playing a game, easing into bedtime and talking about the day as it gently comes to a close.
During UK school holidays, children stay complimentary when sharing with an adult, encouraging slower mornings and the freedom to enjoy being away together without compromise. It’s all part of our belief that family holidays should feel relaxed, generous and easy from the moment you arrive.
Dining Together
At Hintlesham Hall, dining is where family time naturally gathers. Think long breakfasts, relaxed lunches and suppers that gently stretch into the evening
Meals are unhurried and shared, enjoyed in beautiful surroundings with nowhere else to be and nothing to rush for. Children dine alongside the grown-ups, enjoying food prepared with the same care and quality as everything else from the kitchen.
Familiar favourites sit happily alongside the opportunity to try something new, with small tasting plates from the kitchen offered gently and without pressure.
To make family dining feel effortless, children under 12 dine complimentary all year round when eating with an adult.
Time Outdoors, Naturally
We welcome muddy wellies by the door, rosy cheeks from the fresh air, and walks that turn into gentle wanderings.
Our nature trails wind through the gardens and parkland, offering easy walks for all ages. Perfect for morning strolls, post-lunch wanderings, or simply stepping outside together, they invite families to enjoy the grounds at their own pace with no route to follow and no timetable to keep.
There is space to roam, room to breathe, and the reassurance of everything close at hand.
Picnics, Lawns and Traditional Play
We welcome laughter on the lawn, blankets spread out for picnics, and afternoons filled with simple pleasures. On fine days, families are invited to enjoy dining on the terrace, making the most of the open space and peaceful surroundings.
Traditional lawn games, including rounders and croquet, offer an easy, sociable way to spend time together, familiar, timeless pastimes that suit all ages. These are the moments that define a country-house holiday: unplanned, shared and happily unhurried.
The Kitchen Garden
At the heart of the estate is our Kitchen Garden, where fresh herbs, vegetables and fruit are grown for the kitchen throughout the seasons. Families are welcome to explore the garden together, seeing where ingredients begin and how they make their way from soil to plate.
We also keep bees on the estate, producing our own honey. For many children, there’s something rather special about spotting the hives and then enjoying that same honey drizzled over warm toast at breakfast the following morning.
It’s a simple pleasure, but one that makes meals feel meaningful and memorable.
